FAQ

Q. What applications can Polyboard be used for?

Polyboard can be used wherever the elements of weather and water are involved. Most chemicals such as acids and alkaline products won't have any affect on polyboard.

Q. Can I paint Polyboard?

Yes, Polyboard can be painted, use preferably a water base paint. We have obtain good results using spray paint on a dried and cleaned area.


Q. Can Polyboard burn?

Very slowly and neatly such as a candle made of wax. FMVSS no. 302, fireproof .15 inch per minute.


Q. Is Polyboard eavier than wood?

Yes it is about 40% heavier, but it does not absorb water like wood.


Q. How do you cut and saw Polyboard?

You can cut, drill, flute and rivet Polyboard using the same tools as you would with wood. While cutting, it's recommended to support the full lenght of Polyboard on both side of the cut.


Q. What type of glue will stick to Polyboard?

So far we have found that contact glue or Latex will stick to Polyboard.

Q. May I use one " silicone caulking " for the joints of Polyboard?

Yes, but we have obtained a better adhesion with the Latex.

Q. What is the thermic expansion of Polyboard?

Polyboard will increase by 1/4 " for a sheet of 8 ', in varying temperatures between 50°F and 75°F. It is necessary recommended to leave a distance from 1/4 " between complete panels, particularly outdoors. It is also recommended to make bigger holes or grooves to prevent any undulations.


Q. What is the value "R" of the Polyboard ( insulation)?

1/2 " is approximately 1.4

Q. For a horizontal application of Polyboard, what is the recommended spacing?

Considering the great flexibility of Polyboard and a better resistance to knocks than wood, our product requires more support if it is installed to support a load. For thicknesses of 12mm, 16mm and 18mm, we recommend a minimum of 12 " of centre to reduce the abnormality.

Q. What weight can Polyboard support?

Depending on the installation and the spacing of supports, 500-600 Ibs of load distributed uniformly would be acceptable in 70 ' F or less.


Q. May I have various colours?

Our natural product is available in a pinkish tint and also in grey colour. Other colours are available for minimal quantities.
